Fall Mini Sessions | Family

I spend time planning Fall mini sessions each summer, picking specific locations and dates for my clients. There are so many things that play a factor in my planning, and I love photographing your families year after year! This year there are 4 locations I will be offering. For each date, my hope is to have some Fall colors at each location and to bring the perfect backdrop throughout September and October!

Locations

(1) Prairie Creek Park, Richardson, TX (2) Arbor Hills Nature Preserve, Plano, TX

(3) Flippen Park, Highland Park, TX (4) Kimbell Art Museum, Fort Worth, TX

What will you receive?

Mini sessions include your choice of 12 images. Most galleries will include 30-40 images which is why I allow you to upgrade to the full gallery for $100. I know this may be your only family portrait session for the year, plus sometimes it is just too hard to narrow down your favorite images!

Why I focus on specific shots.

My focus for Fall Mini Sessions is on your full family, Christmas card portrait. I know this is the money shot that everyone wants. I will capture your family in a variety of posed and candid portraits. I want to make sure you have options! During our session, I hope to capture at least one images of each of your kids as well as your kids all together plus mom and dad individually with all the kids. Lastly, I do love to sneak in one last picture of the parents as we wrap up!

Products in your gallery.

This year I switched my gallery host and love that I get to offer families so many products! From individual prints, albums and frames to holiday cards! Yes, you read that right. I will be offering a few holiday card options through your gallery!

3 Tips for Fall Mini Sessions | Fort Worth, TX Family Photography

Here we are 6 months late, but it can’t go without saying I have the BEST clients! I loved seeing so many families this Fall during such a unique year. Capturing your holiday sessions is always a delight.

Fall sessions can be stressful. We all have 1000 things to do in the Fall from sports, holidays, and school events, I feel like it quickly fills up our calendars each year. As we head into Fall 2021, I will have limited availability for Fall Mini Sessions.

Before we head into Fall, I wanted to share 3 quick tips to prepare for your session! There are always more tips for your family sessions, but these can help get those sweet smiles and laughs.

Plan ahead:

Plan for your mini session. When is the best time of day for your children? Many young kids nap in the morning and afternoon. As we get later into the Fall, some of the early afternoon sessions are during nap time or dinner time. Think about your children’s schedule before you snag a spot!

Bribe:

It is always okay to bribe! Donuts, candy (sweet tarts, raisins are always good choices), ice cream, you name it, but bribing is okay! We want your kiddos to have fun and give us a few smiles. These are quick 20 minute sessions. Sometimes by the time kids warm up, your session is over :)

Schedule them early:

Yes, you read that right, snag a September spot! The earlier the better and then you are guaranteed to get all the deals on the Holiday card specials! Plus, you know you will have your cards out the door by Thanksgiving! Huge win for this Mama!

What to Wear for your Spring Session | Dallas, TX Family Photography

Spring Sessions are just around the corner! And yes, I know it can be a bit overwhelming to get all the outfits together! I am sharing tips for planning your spring photo-worthy wardrobe; as well as, a few outfits for the whole family!

  1. Start early! Look now for your Spring wardrobe. It is always best to begin looking as early as possible. You never want to wait until the last minute to put your wardrobe together. This only makes us mama’s a bit more stressed!

  2. Mama, start with you! Yes, it is always best to start with the women of the group. Mama’s you can some times be the pickiest. Find a flowy dress, cute top and white pants, or skirt and top combo. I particularly think dresses are prettiest and most flattering for pictures, but that’s not to say I have some of my favorite pictures in a top and white jeans combo! You want whatever you choose to be flattering and make YOU feel good! I may ask you to sit or bend down, so make sure you feel comfortable doing this in your outfit!

  3. Coordinate. Yes, I did say COORDINATE not matching! We want the family to be coordinating wearing like colors and a pattern or two, but not all in those old traditional photos where everyone is matching. A coordinating wardrobe will last a lifetime! Do you have siblings that you want to match? Yes, you can do that, just try to have the family coordinate.

  4. Lay it all out. I always suggest for clients to layout all the clothes. See if they look like they go well together. This way you can switch out options if you have multiple outfits for a child or you. I personally like to lay them on a simple, clean background like the floor to have all the distractions out of the way.

  5. Try it on! Mama, make sure that dress fits or that those cute little outfits tucked away for the kiddos aren’t too small! It’s always good to try them on before hand in case you have to make a change. Also, don’t forget the shoes! Yes, you want to make sure the kids shoes fit before your pictures or they may not want to wear them! But hey, I love a good barefoot picture too, so I am okay with no shoes on the kiddos!

Lastly, if you are client, I am always happy to help with your wardrobe selections or ideas! Just reach out, send me an email and I would be more than happy to help guide you as you put your outfits together!
